Hello 5GMED community,

The 5GMED project reached a new milestone in October 2023 with a two-day trial of our progress made over the past year. In this newsletter, we’re going to recap how it went, so fasten your seatbelts!

The October Demo Days

Our Demo Days were not merely another event; they were a testament to the progress we’ve made in deploying 5G technology for cross-border mobility in the Mediterranean Corridor. This event was an opportunity to demonstrate the real-world impact of our work, focusing on all four key use cases of the project: remote driving, road infrastructure digitalization, railway communications, and follow-me infotainment.

The European Commission’s presence added gravitas to the Demos. Their representatives came to assess our project’s progress since February 2023, underlining the importance of our work on the European stage. Their positive evaluation of our work further emphasizes the significance of the achievements we’ve reached and motivates us to move forward.

Presenting the Results: Don’t Miss the Webinar

On November 8, 2023, at 11:00 AM CET, we will present the results and outcomes from our Demo Days to the 5G community in a webinar titled “Connectivity beyond limits in mobility cross-border scenarios with 5G.”

This event will include insights from the European Commission, a project overview, technical details, discussions on challenges and future directions, and an interactive Q&A session.

What’s next?

Now that we’ve covered the events of our Demo Days, you might be wondering what’s next. 5GMED is now approaching its finish line, with the last demo day trials scheduled for Summer 2024. These trials will mark the culmination of the project, thoroughly evaluating its entire project and achievements.

As we approach this defining moment, our team is poised to roll up their sleeves and push the boundaries of what’s possible in the deployment of 5G technology in the Mediterranean Corridor between Figueres 🇪🇸 and Perpignan 🇫🇷. We’re committed to fine-tuning our solutions, addressing any remaining challenges, and ensuring that our project leaves a lasting impact in the world of connected and automated cross-border mobility.
