These are the technological enablers for cross-border solutions
Europe is working on the deployment of 5G cross-border corridors for Connected and Automated Mobility (CAM) on European transport paths.
This deployment, at technological level, is being possible thanks to the following technological enablers:
- Edge Computing: Edge Computing is similar to cloud computing, however the storage and compute capabilities are extended at the network’s edge by deploying servers in the edge sites closer to the end-users. Data transmission to and from the cloud won’t be necessary, enabling faster data transmission and processing and better service performance.
- QoS Prediction: The QoS-GW provides a means of adaptive per-application policy routing able to dynamically change the RAN used to deliver and receive traffic to/from the ground while providing both IP mobility support and application session continuity.
- V2X Message Routing: Cellular V2X (C-V2X) is the technology developed in 3GPP1 and is designed to operate in two modes: Device-to-device (V2V, V2I, V2P) and Device-to-network (V2N).
- MNO: A mobile network operator, abbreviated as MNO and sometimes also known as carrier service provider, mobile phone operator or mobile network carrier, is a telecommunications service provider organisation that provides wireless voice and data communication for its subscribed mobile users.
