Trials and Pilots for connected and automated mobility brochure

Last May, 5GPPP presented its first brochure about trials and Pilots for CAM that aims to bring together all the projects financed by the private public partnership.

If you are working in the mobility sector, for sure V2X is not a secret for you, but did you know that there are seven projects that are bringing it beyond its state of art? To understand better where those projects are heading a brochure on Trials and Pilots has been created by the private-public partnership 5GPPP . The objective of this institution is to ensure that Europe leads the development and deployment of 5G.

“This brochure aims at providing a schematic and visual summary of the key use cases, key performance indicators, and tests and pilots being conducted in the context of research and innovation projects funded by the 5G-PPP which contribute to enabling efficient and reliable 5G-V2X communications for CAM”.

Among the seven projects that will work on 5G-based vehicular communications for CAM, 5GMED will contribute by designing a common road/railways 5G infrastructure architecture, with proven sustainable business models, demonstrated investment viability and scalability potential.

5G-MOBIX will develop and test automated vehicle functionalities using 5G core technological innovations along multiple cross-border corridors and urban trial sites. 5GCroCo will trial 5G technologies in the cross-border corridor along with France, Germany and Luxembourg and will define new business models as much as impacting standardization bodies from the telco and automotive industries. The objective of 5G-CARMEN is to leverage the most recent 5G advances to provide a multi-tenant platform that can support the automotive sector delivering safer, greener, and more intelligent transportation with the ultimate goal of enabling self-driving cars. 5G-Blueprint envisions to design and validate a technical architecture and a business and governance model for uninterrupted cross-border teleoperated transport based on 5G connectivity. 5G-Routes aims to validate through robust evidence the latest 5G features and 3GPP specifications (R.16 & R.17) of Connected and Automated Mobility (CAM) under realistic conditions. The VITAL-5G project has the vision to advance the offered transport & logistics (T&L) services by engaging significant logistics stakeholders (Sea and River port authorities, road logistics operators, warehouse/hub logistic operators, etc.) as well as innovative SMEs and offering them an open and secure virtualized 5G environment to test, validate and verify their T&L related cutting-edge Network Applications (NetApps).
